Grocery Shopping and the Thumb

I am in such dire need of groceries.  At least, that's how I feel.  The mister and I have been going over our budget and I suggested that we grocery shop every 2 weeks instead of every week to see if we can possibly reduce our grocery bill.  Well, it's only the first time we've tried and it is definitely something that I'm going to need to get used to.  I am so accustomed to going every week that I feel like there is no food.  But in reality, I just have to be a little more creative.

Anyway, it's been two weeks and I have a long list of things to get.  To do this, I have enlisted the help of my lovely mother.  I have gone to the grocery store with the boys alone before, but Baxter sits in the cart.  And well, if he sits in the cart today, he will get lost in a sea of groceries.  So I guess grocery shopping every 2 weeks is going to be a two person job.

In other news, Atticus is 9 months old today.  And today marks the beginning of the end.  At least in regards to his thumb.  Yep, we are beginning our attempt to break him of his thumb-sucking habit.

I know, I know, it's so cute.  But I don't want to pay for the dental work that is likely to result if he continues.  We're not starting with anything extreme, we're just going to take it out of his mouth for a while so see if that discourages him.  If not, we'll reevaluate and look into other options.  But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Now I'm off to get things done before our grocery shopping adventure.  It's my goal to be very productive today, which involves homework, taking a final, buying a textbook, grocery shopping, washing my dishes, doing/folding laundry, etc...

What's on your To Do list today?

  2. Oh, it's definitely hard to say no to his little thumb. But I have to keep telling myself that I don't want him to have a lisp.

  3. I've been quietly reading your blog forever via RSS feed and just felt compelled to finally comment today (I LOVE YOUR BLOG by the way), but I wanted to say that I have a little 5 month old son who is also a thumb sucker! At first I was so concerned (dental work and braces and images of a 10 year old thumb sucker, oh my!) but now I'm okay with it, for awhile at least! But PLEASE share your tips on breaking the habit, once it happens!

    Good luck <3 <3
