His First Father's Day

Today is the first time Eric gets to celebrate Father's Day.  And even though he doesn't want it to be different than any other day, it is.  He has two sweet little boys who couldn't love him more.

He's the best poppa Baxter and Atticus could ever have, and we love him so much.

Date Night, and Feeling Like a Grown Up

Last night, the boys stayed the night at my parents for the first time.  They are such little champs.  It's wonderful that they do so well, and we're even able to have overnights to ourselves.  Eric and I grabbed a quick dinner at one of my favorite little restaurants.  It's not always available, but the owner has created a gluten free and yeast free bread.  Well, last night they had some and I got to enjoy a whole sandwich.  It's definitely something you don't think about until you're not allowed to eat it for months.  I savored every bite.

After dinner, we went to go see Super 8.  When we got their, the showing we wanted was sold out.  Thankfully, a Starbucks was in the same parking lot so we bought tickets for the next show and killed time there.

After the movie, we met up with Eric's sister Hannah, who's in town for the weekend.  I told Eric when we got there, that I felt like such a grown up going out after a movie.  Even before kids, we didn't do that kind of stuff very often, but haven't come close since the boys came home.  We usually relish our sleep, but not last night.  We were out pretty late, and today we had to get up before we would have liked to.  Needless to say, I'm tired.  But we had a lot of fun.

Although, I don't think I could do this every weekend.  I just love my sleep too much, and I don't like energy drinks, which seems like a necessity when you get very little sleep.  I guess I'm just not cut out to be a perpetual night owl.  I'll just stick with my random occurrences.  I'm okay with that.

The Art of Running Errands

Yesterday the weather cleared up long enough to run a few errands with the kiddos.  Although they've been home 6+ months, it's still a challenge taking them places by myself.  If a store doesn't have a cart corral, then it's 10x harder.  When I park, I make sure to park by the carts and also check to see if there is one there.

If there aren't any carts in the parking lot, I have to carry them both into the store.  I can do this, but don't prefer to.  And it's pretty awkward getting them into the cart once I'm in the store.

Off to our first destination

First stop, Target

Stop #2: Meijer, to get ingredients to make a meal for expectant friend

It was a very successful trip.  And when I say successful, I mean that the boys were happy the entire time we were in the store.  Lately, Baxter has been getting very frustrated in the cart, which makes errands much more stressful than they have to be.  He was a champ yesterday, and I'm hoping that this is a new trend.  It definitely boosted my confidence and I may just go a little crazy and take them for longer next time.  But I'll just have to see.  I'm not that much of a dare devil.

Dinner with Friends

Yesterday we had dinner with some of our good friends.  They are in town for the summer, and are actually renting a house from us.  So we went to their/our house for dinner  :)

Kate is an incredible cook, and made us a curry dish that she created on her own.  Oh man, it was yummy!  I am still working on taking photos throughout the night, and didn't think to take photos of the food or us at dinner until later (tear).

But...Kate is starting a vegan lifestyle blog and the recipe will most likely be there soon.  She was taking pictures of the final product, so you should be able to see a step-by-step recipe.  Her site is not quite up, but her graphic designer husband is working on it.  So, continue to check out veganbelle.com over the next few days to start following her, and all of her delicious goodness.

After our scrumptious meal, the boys played video games for a while until they allowed us to jump in too.  Scott and Kate like video games, and we always have fun playing with them.  Eric and I don't play if it's just us, so it's always a good time when we get the chance.  Have you ever heard of the game You Don't Know Jack?  Well, it's fun and you should try it.

Scott and Kate are also knowledgeable wine/cocktail drinkers.  It was sad, but I am still not able to partake.  So, as they enjoyed their drinks, I sipped on Yerba Mate tea.  It was good, but it wasn't a cocktail.  Oh well.  Soon enough I guess.

I didn't do so well this time around.  Eric and I don't usually win.  We attribute it to our lack of practice, and bow to Scott and Kate's skills.

Kate discovered that I was taking some phone pics and decided to pose for the next one.  Wicked sexy, huh?

We're so glad that they are in town.  We always have a lot of fun together.  They live in Tennessee, and we try to visit them, but it's not the same (this is from our last visit).  It's gonna be a fun summer with them around.

Eric's Birthday

Today is my mister's birthday.  He's now one year away from the big 3-0.  He wouldn't mind me telling, he's excited to age.  He's the kind of person that doesn't associate age with personality or ability.  He's going to be doing so much and be so active when he's 80, I will probably need a hoveround to keep up ;)

This last year, our lives have changed immensely and I have seen him go from a loving, caring husband to an even more loving and caring husband, as well as an incredibly loving and involved poppa.  It's truly amazing to watch him with the boys.  He's so attentive to each of their personalities and makes sure he's spending loads of time with both of them.

We are all so lucky to have him.

Happy birthday Eric!
