Tennessee Trip

As you know, we made it back safe and sound from our road trip to Tennessee. Although I think I am just now recovered fully, a week later.  But it was fun and absolutely worth the tiredness.

We left on Friday night, drove through the night and arrived at 6am.  The boys slept until 10am, so that allowed Eric and I to get some much needed sleep.  After we got ready and ate lunch, we headed out for our hike.  It was such a great afternoon.  In Michigan, we don't have any mountains so it was super fun to do something we don't get the chance to very often.

After the hike we had dinner in, and watched the Final Four games of the NCAA Tournament.  That's actually why we head to TN every year.  Eric likes to watch the games with his friend, Scott, who he spent his entire childhood, including many basketball teams with.

Sunday morning came and we spent some time at a park, where the men played volleyball and the kiddos played in the grass.  The weather was just so wonderful, I could have spent every minute outside.  If you saw Eric, you'd think he did.  He was very sunburned.  As Michiganders, we get so excited about the nice weather we would rather be in pain from sunburn than not enjoy the new, warm weather.

Sunday evening, after dinner, we headed to Lookout Mountain to watch the sunset.  It was ridiculously beautiful. See...

Monday was the last day there, and we spent it at the gym, eating lunch at the Yellow Deli and dinner at a Sluggos, a little vegan cafe.  And we couldn't leave before finishing the championship game.  It ended about 11:30pm and that's when we headed home.

Neither drive was perfect, but the boys were able to sleep quite a bit each way.  They would just wake up occasionally and need a drink of water, but then usually headed back to bed.

All in all, it was a very fun and successful trip.  And happily, our friends will be spending the summer here in Michigan, so it won't be long before we get to see them again!
